In my stained glass composition "The Ark: A Fragment of 'Small Dream in Red'" (which is taken from a portion of Wassily Kandinski's painting of that title), my tribute to him is semi-vicarious. In his painting Kandinski, who is known for being the first pioneer of totally non-representational art, has, it would seem, painted a boat that floats among the other color-of-emotion based expressional forms. This painting was given as a gift to his wife and was explained by him to be representing the emotion of happiness. It is fascinating to me that other viewers and myself can experience that "happiness" feeling in his work but also each have our own experiences of joy and other recollections brought into our consciousness. Noah's Ark was the form-thought that came into my mind. Sharing joy is also the emotion that comes across from the author of Hebrews who wrote: "By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By faith he condemned the worldly order and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith!'
